Did you hear that?
No, what?
What was that sound?
I don’t know, I didn’t hear it. What did it sound like?
Like nothing I’ve ever heard before.
Oh really? Then how did you expect me to hear it?
There it goes again.
I hear nothing. You’re hearing things.
Obviously.
Missed you, Dermott! I love your 50 word shorts.
Thank you, Tanya. While agreeing, fundamentally with Hemingway’s six word story theory, I believe 50 words is the better vessel. This is not a comeback – I got my new orthopaedic boot, yesterday – at least it’s a step in that direction. Thank you
Heal quickly! You are missed, especially in the days of Trumpet.
Strangely, though I got it ‘wrong’, I believe my ‘Dickensian ‘ Trumpet fits the bill
I think your ‘Dickensian’ Trumpet was wonderful. Say, I have a short poetry book just out that has all of the proceeds going to fund art and writing programs for children in juvenile detention. When you’re feeling up to it, I was wondering if you would take a look at it. No rush.
It’s on my must do list
Thank you, Dermott. It is a great cause.

I’m working with a counselor in a center to use the books as a teaching tool for these children, particularly focusing on the tanka and haiku. Many of those children have trouble reading novels.
It occurred to me, Tanya, that compliments regarding me and my shorts are as scarce as the proverbial hen’s teeth
I love them for the same reasons I love Tanka and Haiku and all those forms that force writers to be sharp with their words. I would love to see you put together a compilation of them.
Pardon me, Tanya, there was a double entendre implied in my reply. I didn’t mean to denigrate or diminish your compliment
I didn’t take it that way at all. When I go to theater, I’m the first one on my feet clapping if the show is good. People are too reserved with compliments…afraid to speak up.
